How High-Performing Leaders Master the Art of Making Friends and Influencing Profits! 4 Tips to Unleash Your Networking Superpowers

What is it about Summer that inspires me to get more social? Have you gone on any adventures this year yet? Last week alone, I was at an Eco-Summit, a Tiki Boat party, and a fun day at the pool. This may sound like a great week, lol, and for me, it was a great opportunity to network and meet potential new clients and friends and reconnect with a few buddies.

Networking - 5 ways!
Met so many new faces!

After each event, I sent little follow-up notes to everyone I met and, I heard the same comment multiple times – “Thanks for your note, it was so great meeting you in person”. And that made me think, I wonder how many people are intentional about networking in today’s online-focused world? Don’t get me wrong, you can also network virtually and I have, but if you are still getting back into the groove of being live and in person, stay tuned… I wrote a little ebook: “Unleash Your Networking Superpowers: A Business Guide for Entrepreneurs & Leaders”.

It was so fun putting on paper some ideas for Networking in person. Here is an overview of the 5 chapters, enjoy!

Your Guide to Networking
Let’s Go Network!

Welcome to this empowering guide designed for high-performing women, business leaders, and entrepreneurs in today’s interconnected business world. Networking has become an invaluable skill for those aiming to grow their ventures and make a significant impact in their industries. This guide will equip you with valuable insights and strategies to navigate the art of networking successfully, helping you expand your professional network, build meaningful connections, and leverage valuable opportunities for business growth and success.

Tip 1: Embracing the Power of Networking

Ready to elevate your networking game as a business leader or entrepreneur? Start by embracing the belief that networking is a powerful tool for creating meaningful connections and accessing valuable resources. Whether you are a seasoned entrepreneur seeking new collaborations or a rising business leader looking to expand your reach, networking can be a game-changer. Recognize that building a strong network is about quality and authenticity, and that being your true self, sharing stories, and offering support are essential elements of successful networking.

Vision Boards rock!
Let’s get busy with our dreams!

Practical Exercise:

Create a vision board or journal page depicting the connections, collaborations, and opportunities you envision through networking. Visualize the possibilities and let it inspire you to take action.

Action Prompt:

Identify three networking events or online communities aligned with your industry or interests and schedule them on your calendar.

Tip 2: Cultivating an Empowering Networking Mindset.

Foster a positive networking mindset as a business leader or entrepreneur by viewing it as a platform for collaboration, support, and knowledge exchange. Ground yourself in strength, empathy, and confidence in your expertise and the value you bring to the table. Just like when I found myself in a messy divorce, returning to the workforce after being a stay-at-home mom for a decade, I held on to the vision of my ideal job, summoning the confidence to meet with my previous boss. Embrace your authenticity, and let your true self shine during networking interactions.

Tip 3: Strategies for Successful Networking  – Create an intro for yourself

As a business leader or entrepreneur, networking means tapping into existing connections and identifying opportunities aligned with your goals and interests. Create a strengths-based, authentic, and engaging introduction that showcases your passion and expertise. Seek opportunities for collaborations and partnerships within your network to expand your business reach and tap into possible new friendships.

Tip 4: Nurturing and Expanding Your Network

As a business leader or entrepreneur, nurturing authentic relationships with new people is key. Follow-up, staying in touch, and offering value and support, create meaningful connections. Leverage the power of digital platforms like Zoom to set up an informal coffee chat to keep the conversation going. Also, look for online groups to expand your network and connect with like-minded individuals.

Practical Exercise:

Reach out to three individuals from your existing network whom you haven’t connected with in a while. Schedule a catch-up call or send a personalized message to rekindle the relationship.

Seek out mentorship or guidance from influential individuals in your network who can offer valuable insights and advice. Harness the power of testimonials and referrals from your network to establish credibility and attract new clients or a new role (or possibly a raise!).

Practical Exercise:

Create a referral system or process for capturing testimonials and recommendations from satisfied clients or collaborators. Establish a plan for requesting and leveraging these valuable assets in your marketing efforts.

Good luck on your networking path, remember to introduce yourself, be curious, and actively engage in discussions to establish new connections, AND as a gift to yourself, consider hiring a business coach to accelerate your growth and development this year!
